About a ypur two, Indonesia had taken the world’s attention with of its culture. Batik which has been Indonesia natural pride was decided as world cultural heritage by UNESCO. Solo, which is the place where Batik comes, that want to be self. The local government  give an instruction to it event called “Solo Membatik Dunia”

As the result, Solo loked different on that we can saw many people wore batik almost in every corner of the city. They wore various model of the batik with different color. Batik which usually used by elder people  to attend special event or important ceremony is now become more familiar. Now batik is used is various occation and various age. Moreover, the culture of using batik as dialy suit extends rapidly in youth.

Batik’s Long Road

The world batik come Javanese “amba” word mean ‘write’ and ‘dot’. It refers to the fabric with various pattern of ‘malam’ (wax). It is applied on a fabric, and then the wax hold the colour material (dye), or in another word “wax-resist dyeing”

The batik culture has become one of Indonesia king’s family culture a long time ago. At first, batik was done only inside the place and result was just used by the king, batik family and his fllowers. Because there are so many followers lived out the place by them. And soon, ordinary people from years to years till now.

Batik Design Revolution

Batik as valuable handicraft and it is part of Indonesia culture since long a time ago, especially Java. Several years ago, Batik indentic with a formal event such as meeting, wedding ceremony and event we can see the youth is more confidence to use batik in their daily activity. Batik is now on its revolution.

There are many reasons why fashion that designer make sereval alteration. First they realize that younger costumer tend to use a colourfull batik with modern design. Second, the trend of fashion of always change. This have a make a new trend and follow people intention. Up till now, batik is only presented in the form of the cloth. But in the recent days, the opportunity to crate a new form and model is widely open for the fashion designer. So that they are ‘forced’ to be more creative with baitk.

After UNESCO’s acknowledgment

There is an interesting phenomena around use nowdays. After UNESCO announced that batik is World Cultural Heritage from Indonesia on 2^nd October 2009, youth is not ashame anymore to use batik. We can see them use batik everywhere and in every occation. They are not hasitate to use batik when to they campus, café, store, or hang out they friends in their favorite spot.

Indeed, the use of  batik is proudness. In one form or another. In one form or another, batik has used as a material clothes the human body, its uses also include furnishing fabrics, heavy canvas wall hangings, tablecloths and household accessories. Many models are crated to adjust the teenager dynamic lifestyle.

By Introducing the use of baitk to the youth, whether on their daily activity another formal event, we are participating to promote our culture indirectly. Moreover we can help forward our nation with its character to be known internationally. One to be remembered is how to make people understand that atik is not only a fabric with various motif. It is a part or Indonesia culture, one of culture that need to be kept.
